Guatemalan Nationals Nabbed With Prohibited Rounds
Two Guatemalan nationals are behind bars tonight after a high-speed chase in the Cayo District led to a major discovery. Police say the men were found with prohibited ammunition during a joint operation that started when customs officers pursued a black Hilux pickup. The men claim they’re legitimate businessmen and licensed to carry in Guatemala, but here’s the catch: point-forty caliber weapons are banned in Belize. By law, they should have left the weapon at the nearest police station upon entry. ASP Stacy Smith explains what happened next.

The MIU personnel reported that they were on mobile patrol in the area when their attention was drawn to a pursuit that was being conducted by custom personnel who were following a black in color Hilux pickup truck. When the vehicle was intercepted and the search was conducted, found there inn were the fourteen live rooms of point-forty-millimeter ammunition.”
