Second Arrest in Mark Gabourel Murder Case

Police have made a major breakthrough in the January second murder of fifty-five-year-old Mark Gabourel. Two days after the killing, investigators charged twenty-five-year-old Camalote resident Wilhem Coye. And today, there’s a second arrest. Twenty-nine-year-old Shaylon Santos is now facing a murder charge in connection with Gabourel’s death. Santos is no stranger to the law, he was previously charged for the 2017 murder of eighteen-year-old Keonia Ara, but was acquitted in 2022. Tonight, police say the investigation continues.

“So I am getting the resources needed and we are getting whatever is needed for the job to make sure we go after these people. It cannot be that a small number of people are holding our country hostage. It will not be and we will make sure we go after them and the full enforcement of the law will come down on them. We have cameras installed throughout the Capital and that is what helped us to solve this murder. Do we need more, I think we do and we are looking at the deployment of those cameras around the cameras and for now I think that our communities and citizens are the other law enforcement arm we need. Many times they see something and don’t say anything and will go on social media and rant and rave and holler the police is not doing anything. We depend on the community.”
