Contract Signed for Modern Caye Caulker Police Station
A brand-new police station for Caye Caulker is officially on the way. The Ministry of Economic Transformation signed a contract on Tuesday with Coleman Construction Limited to get the project started. The deal was witnessed by Home Affairs Minister Oscar Mira and Area Representative Abner Andre Perez. This is part of the Belize Integral Security Program, a sixty-million-dollar initiative funded by CABEI to boost citizen safety and strengthen the Police Department. The new station will cost about one-point-five million dollars and span over three thousand, five hundred square feet, complete with modern features like a domestic violence unit, secure evidence room, private interview spaces, and even a conference room. Once finished, it’ll serve both residents and the growing number of tourists who flock to the island every year.

“The substation in Caye Caulker will greatly enhance the capability and greatly enhance the working conditions of the officers stationed there. For now, where they are is inadequate and this will make sure that the police substation and the officers working there provide that necessary security for the residents, but not only for the residents, for the visitors that go to Caye Caulker.”

Oscar Mira
