Trump: “Venezuela Will Soon Be Great and Prosperous Again”
The Venezuelan Embassy has confirmed that Acting President Delcy Rodríguez spoke by phone with U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday, describing the conversation as “long, productive and courteous” and conducted “in a framework of mutual respect.”
According to the embassy, the leaders discussed a bilateral work agenda aimed at benefiting both nations, as well as unresolved matters in their governments’ relationship.
President Trump also commented on the call in a post on Truth Social, saying it was “very good” and that progress was being made in helping Venezuela “stabilise and recover”. He added that the discussion covered oil, minerals, trade, and national security, and described the potential U.S.–Venezuela partnership as “spectacular FOR ALL.”
He ended the post with, “Venezuela will soon be great and prosperous again, perhaps more so than ever before!”
The call comes amid heightened political tensions between the two countries. Earlier this month, U.S. forces captured Venezuela’s former president, Nicolás Maduro, who is now being prosecuted in the United States on drug‑related charges.
Following the operation, Trump said the United States would “run” Venezuela until a transition could be organised, a comment he linked to stabilising the country and rebuilding key sectors like oil. Shortly after, Delcy Rodríguez assumed office as acting president and signalled her willingness to cooperate with Washington.
Trump later announced that a second wave of U.S. attacks on Venezuela had been cancelled, citing “cooperation” from leaders in Caracas, including the release of a large number of prisoners.
