Shyne Vows to Serve Belize Despite Party Tensions
Former United Democratic Party (UDP) leader Moses “Shyne” Barrow says he is preparing a slate of major projects while balancing his role as a father and his ongoing ties to Belize.
Speaking with News Five, Barrow revealed that beginning in February he will announce dates for a 25th anniversary tour. He also confirmed new albums, film projects, a biographical TV series, a motion picture, and a memoir are all in the works.
“We have albums coming out, we have the tour, the 25th anniversary tour coming out, we have film projects coming out… all these things I’m working on as we speak,” Barrow said.
Much of the work is based in the United States, where he has recently recorded with producers including Dr. Dre, Swizz Beatz, and Rvssian. However, he said he continues to prioritise Belize and his role as a father.
“I’m not prepared to transplant my daughter to the United States at this point, so I have to come back and forth and try to be the best father I can. Belize is always first,” he said, adding that he spends about two visits a month in the country.
Asked how his creative ventures fit with his political standing, Barrow said he remains committed to contributing to Belize’s national conversation, regardless of his position within the UDP.
“Whether or not the leadership of the UDP welcomes my contribution, I will be contributing as a patriot, as a nationalist, as a proud, committed Belizean servant,” he said.
