Belizeans felt a bit more confident about their household finances in November 2025, but everyday costs for housing, food, and health services continued to rise, according to the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB).

Through tracking changes in the cost of everyday goods and services over time, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.4%.

Housing and utilities were among the main drivers of higher costs, with rents climbing and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) averaging $128.57 per 100‑pound cylinder, up from $123.97 a year earlier.

Health costs also increased, with higher fees for doctor visits, medicines, and surgeries. Food prices rose as well, particularly for beef, grapes, and watermelon.

Transport provided some relief, as fuel prices dipped. Diesel fell by $0.56 per gallon, regular gasoline by $0.46, and premium by $0.33 when compared to the previous year.

The impact was not the same across the country. Residents in Punta Gorda faced the highest increases in essentials like food and school supplies, while Orange Walk saw small decreases as fuel and personal care items became slightly cheaper.

Looking at the year overall, prices in 2025 rose moderately, with a year-to-date increase of just over 1% compared to 2024.

The figures suggest that while Belizeans were a little less pessimistic in November, rising everyday costs remained a reality.
