Woman in England Found Guilty of Enslaving Victim for 25 Years
A woman has been found guilty of keeping another woman with learning difficulties captive for 25 years and forcing her to live as a slave.
56-year-old Mandy Wixon of Tewkesbury, in the southwest of England, subjected the victim to sustained physical abuse, starvation and forced labour inside her overcrowded home, according to BBC News.
The victim is now in her 40s. She was found by police in March 2021 after concerns were raised by one of Wixon’s sons. Officers said she was malnourished and terrified.
BBC News reported that washing-up liquid was forced down her throat. Police described her bedroom as resembling a “prison cell”.
Wixon was convicted of false imprisonment, forcing compulsory labour and assault causing actual bodily harm.
Wixon will be sentenced on March 12.
