St John’s Credit Union Opens New Headquarters at 80
Saint John’s Credit Union marked its 80th anniversary today with the official opening of a new headquarters on Buttonwood Bay Boulevard, Belize City.
The institution’s president, Alvan Haynes, called it a milestone that reflects decades of steady growth. “This marks our biggest step. It shows that we have moved from a fairly small institution to a very large financial institution,” he said.
The credit union began with a handful of members and just $100,000 back in 1946 inside a small classroom on Albert Street. Today, it serves more than 30,000 members and holds over $100 million in liquidity.
The new $14 million headquarters spans 35,000 square feet and was unveiled during a ceremony attended by board members, staff and invited guests.
“Of course, we are also maintaining the south side office to serve the community there,” Haynes added.
