Don’t Miss Comedy Play ‘Neighbourhood Watch’ Tonight at the Bliss
A comedy play written by Kathy Esquivel wraps up its run tonight at the Bliss Center for the Performing Arts. The production is titled “Neighbourhood Watch.”
Speaking on the morning show Open Your Eyes, Esquivel described the play as light-hearted and interactive. “It’s a comedy; it doesn’t really have a deep message, except that we should look after each other,” Esquivel said.
She added that the audience will even become part of the production. “One of the scenes is a village council meeting, and the audience is at that meeting,” Esquivel stated. “We want people in the audience to participate.”
While comedic in nature, Esquivel says the play reflects everyday realities.
The play’s final performance is scheduled for tonight at the Bliss Center. Tickets can be purchased by contacting 626-7238. General admission tickets cost $20, reserved seating is $40, and VIP tickets are $100.
“Live theatre is something different; we are really trying to have some fun and raise some money and work to bring theatre back,” she said.
All proceeds from the production will benefit the Mental Health Association’s Welcome Resource Centre, a day centre that provides support for the homeless and mentally ill. “So people can have a shower, they can have breakfast, lunch, and leisure activities,” Esquivel added.
