Guyana’s President Concludes Visit in Belize
Guyana’s President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali concluded a three-day state visit to Belize today.
During the visit, both countries agreed on a series of cooperation frameworks covering security, education, tourism, technology, and investment. Leaders said the focus is on practical outcomes, including joint crime fighting, expanded scholarships and skills training, tourism growth, and digital government services using new technologies.
Security agreements centre on cooperation against transnational crime and emerging threats, alongside efforts to strengthen defence and intelligence capacity.
Prime Minister John Briceño said the agreements “provide a solid basis for deeper collaborations in areas of mutual benefit.”
The agreements are not legally binding.
Dr Ali also visited sites in the Cayo District, including Santander Sugar Limited and Quality Poultry Products.
Dr Ali departed Belize today after a ceremonial farewell by the Belize Defence Force Honour Guard.
