Tonight, a mother and daughter from Punta Gorda are facing serious drug charges after a police search turned up a large quantity of crack cocaine. Officers say the discovery was made Tuesday during the execution of a search warrant at a home on Cerro Road, where forty‑seven‑year‑old Cheryl Garbutt and her eighteen‑year‑old daughter, Kailah Bahadur, were found. Police report uncovering a plastic bag containing one hundred foil‑wrapped parcels of crack cocaine, weighing just over fifteen grams. Both women were taken into custody and later charged with possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply.
