And staying in the Toledo District tonight, San Jose residents are now enjoying a more reliable and cost‑effective water supply. The Ministry of Rural Transformation, working with UNICEF, officially opened the village’s upgraded water system today, shifting the community to a modern, green‑energy setup that cuts operating costs while keeping water flowing consistently. The handover also included a heavy‑duty backup generator, giving the village the resilience it needs during outages or severe weather. Officials say it’s another step toward closing the infrastructure gap in rural Belize through smart, sustainable solutions.

“This handover represents  represent a concrete step towards expanding safe and reliable water services for children and families. Access to safe water is essential for health, education, resilience, especially rural committees. We challenges remain greatest. I wish to recognize the government of Belize through the Ministry of Road Transformation Committee Development and local government the Village Water Board here. We also, I’m sure also include the members from the Nanka community the Village Council, and everyone who collaborated to meet. This possible”

“We are especially grateful for the generous contribution that made this project complete and sustain the provision of new pipes. Water meters, solar, electrification, proper fencing, and a new generator to pump water. These addition have not only restored our water system, but strengthen it for the future. Clean and reliable water is life. But today and today, our community stands empowered. Because of your support. This project is more than infrastructure. It represent improved health, reduce hardship, better op opportunities for our families, and hope for future generations.”
