Gun violence in the Old Capital continued Thursday and a man is now fighting for his life after a late‑night ambush that has left residents shaken. Around 11:25 p.m., twenty-six‑year‑old Tyrel Andrewin was sitting inside his parked vehicle on Plues Street when a van pulled up beside him. Without warning, someone inside opened fire, hitting Andrewin before the vehicle sped off. A family member rushed him to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where doctors listed him in critical condition. Police arrived minutes later and launched an investigation into what appears to be a targeted attack. Detectives are now working to determine who was inside that van and what led to the gunfire that nearly claimed Andrewin’s life.
