KHMH Finally Appoints New CEO After Post Sat Empty for Months
After months of operating without permanent leadership, the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) has officially appointed Sharine Reyes as its new chief executive officer.
The country’s largest public hospital had been under interim management since October, when the contract of former CEO Chandra Nisbet‑Cansino ended.
In February, the board interviewed a shortlist of candidates, including Ann-Marie Thompson, former acting labour commissioner; Timothy Seguro, assistant administrator and former acting CEO of the hospital; Dr Gilroy Middleton, former CEO in the Ministry of Immigration; and Gilda Diaz Hall.
Reyes, who previously served as the hospital’s financial director, emerged as the successful candidate. Her appointment marks a significant step toward stabilising the institution, which serves as Belize’s only tertiary‑level referral hospital.
