U.S. Donates Nearly $3M in Fire Equipment to Belize
The United States Southern Command has donated nearly BZ$3 million worth of fire equipment to strengthen Belize’s emergency response capacity.
The equipment, handed over on Wednesday in Belmopan, was provided through the U.S. Humanitarian Assistance Program to the Belize National Fire Service. The donation includes handheld radios, oxygen tanks, Hurst rescue tools, cutting saws, portable pumps, and full firefighting gear.
U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Katharine Beamer said the contribution reflects the strong partnership between the two countries.
“This donation is a testament to the enduring friendship between the United States and Belize,” Beamer said. “It reflects our shared dedication to protecting lives and strengthening communities.”
Minister of the Public Service and Disaster Risk Management Henry Charles Usher welcomed the support, calling it a significant investment in public safety. “This assistance is critical in ensuring that our firefighters have the facilities, tools, and resources needed to serve communities effectively across the country,” Usher said.
Officials say the new equipment will enhance the Fire Service’s operational readiness and ability to protect lives and property nationwide.
