Trump Criticises NATO Allies for Declining to Help

US President Donald Trump says most NATO allies have told the United States they will not take part in the US/Israel war against Iran, describing their decision as a“foolish mistake”.

In a lengthy post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that despite requests for support, “most” NATO members declined to join US operations in the Middle East. He added that Japan, Australia, and South Korea were also unnecessary to the mission, insisting the US could act alone.

“Because of the fact that we have had such Military Success, we no longer ‘need,’ or desire, the NATO Countries’ assistance — WE NEVER DID!” Trump wrote. “WE DO NOT NEED THE HELP OF ANYONE.”

His comments came ahead of remarks in the Oval Office, where he was asked whether America’s allies would help escort oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway for global energy supplies. Trump said NATO allies had supported US strikes against Iran’s nuclear threat but refused to commit forces to the task force.

French President Emmanuel Macron has already said France will not join a Hormuz mission until hostilities end.

Asked about Macron’s position, Trump replied that he (Macron) would be out of office soon and insisted Iran would take “10 years” to rebuild if the U.S. left now.
