New Agreement Aims to Boost Belize’s Workforce
The Briceño administration is taking another step toward strengthening Belize’s workforce. On Monday, the government signed a new coordination agreement aimed at boosting labor force participation and improving employability across the country. The initiative, backed by an IDB loan, focuses on modernizing Belize’s employment services and helping more Belizeans gain the skills they need to succeed in today’s job market. The event was one of two short signing ceremonies in Cabinet, the other involving a loan to expand and upgrade the Philip Goldson Highway.

“These two initiatives, they reflect our government’s commitment to strengthening both the physical and the human infrastructure for our country. Development requires not only modern roads and connectivity, but also skills, productive and an empowered workforce. So today’s agreements helps us to advance both these two critical priorities of our government. Infrastructure plays a major role in national development. Roads connect our communities, enable the movement of people and goods, and products and they support economic activity that drives growth. The Philip Goldson Highway is one of Belize’s most important transportation corridors, stretching from Belize City all the way to the northern districts, onwards to Mexico, and it serves thousands of Belizeans every day and supports tourism and agriculture.”
