PM Briceño Says BPO Expansion Brings Jobs to Women in Rural Areas

In a social media post, Prime Minister John Briceño said he met with representatives from Transparent BPO to discuss the company’s growth plans in Belize.

“Expansion of operations… expansion of employment for women in rural communities. That’s what our folks at Transparent BPO and I discussed during their courtesy visit,” the prime minister wrote.

According to Briceño, the company is expanding its home-based work programme, with a particular focus on rural Belize. The initiative is expected to allow more women to work remotely, reducing the need to travel to urban centres for employment.

The announcement follows ongoing government support for the BPO sector. In an interview earlier this year, Briceño stated that the BPO sector employs more than 20,000 people and generates over 150 million US dollars in annual salaries.

“We have to be grateful to the BPO industry,” Briceño said at the time.
