BCCI Puts Women’s Empowerment Front and Center
The Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry brought women’s empowerment to center stage today, hosting its fourth annual forum under the bold theme “From Survival to Scale.” The event pulled together entrepreneurs, policymakers, and industry leaders for frank conversations about the financial and social barriers women still face, and the solutions already within reach. Speakers tackled everything from access to capital and digital opportunities to workplace safety and even menopause, a topic rarely discussed in professional spaces. CEO Kim Aikman framed the day as part of a broader economic mission, stressing that women’s empowerment isn’t charity, it’s smart investment. A standout moment came with the Women’s Thousand-dollar Grant Competition, where Oma Organix and My Cielo Blue took home top honors for their innovative, scalable business ideas. And in true Belizean fashion, Soca Queen Ernestine Carballo brought the energy with a performance celebrating women’s resilience. Belize can only strengthen its economy if it tears down the barriers still holding women back and builds a system where their talent can thrive. The BCCI says it’s committed to leading that charge.
