Eden High Career Day: “Dream It, Explore It, Become It”
Eden High School was buzzing with energy on Wednesday as students swapped their regular classes for real-world career exploration. More than two dozen businesses and organizations, including Greater Belize Media, transformed the campus into a hub of opportunity under the theme “Dream It, Explore It, Become It.”
Vice Principal Sherilyn Flowers described the event as “real learning in action.” “I am so proud, extremely thankful, because twenty-four businesses and organizations accepted our invitation and these kids are having an awesome time,” Flowers said. She added that several presenters had already reported strong interest from students. “I am excited to tell you that already that several of the presenters I have spoken to have said that the students are already expressing an interest in that career.”
During Greater Belize Media’s session, students got an inside look at life in journalism…from choosing stories to handling rejection. “How do you choose what stories to cover?” one student asked. “How do you deal with rejection?” another followed.
The session didn’t stop at questions. Students were invited to try their hand at delivering a mock live broadcast. Many stepped confidently to the microphone, showcasing surprising poise and natural talent.
What began as a school event quickly became a spark for future ambitions, proving that sometimes all it takes is exposure and encouragement to help young minds turn dreams into plans.
