Fake Winning Numbers Being Sold Online

The Belize Government Lotteries Limited (BGLL) is warning the public about fraudulent social media posts offering “winning numbers” for Boledo, Ordinary, and Jackpot lottery games in exchange for money.  BGLL says it is impossible for anyone to know those numbers in advance.

Every draw is run under tight controls. Balls are weighed before and after each session, senior public officers conduct the drawings, and independent auditors from Coye and Associates are present every time.

Anyone claiming to have the numbers ahead of time is “misleading the public”, the organisation says, and doing so for personal financial gain.

BGLL is also reminding the public that it does not authorise anyone to sell lottery tickets through social media, messaging apps, or any other unofficial channel. Tickets should only be purchased from authorised vendors.

“Engaging in or supporting these illegal activities may result in criminal charges under Belizean law,” their release stated.
