Belize Made Nearly $1.4 Billion in the Final Quarter of 2025
The Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) reports that from October to December, the country produced goods and services worth $1.396 billion, a 4.7% GDP growth in the final quarter of 2025.
Growth was recorded across all areas of the economy, with the strongest gains coming from farming, fishing, and services such as tourism and banking. Farmers produced more bananas, corn, and beans, while the fishing industry expanded thanks to stronger shrimp and lobster exports. Construction activity rose by 10%, driven by higher imports of building materials and more loans for projects.
Tourism also gave the economy a boost. Visitor arrivals increased, particularly from cruise passengers, which climbed nearly 14% to 301,500.
The services sector was the biggest driver of growth, expanding by nearly $39 million. Banks and insurance companies grew by 18%, fuelled by more loans, deposits, and insurance revenues.
Another important contributor was government revenue. ‘Taxes on Products’ rose by 4.6%, from $167.1 million in the fourth quarter of 2024 to $174.8 million in the same period of 2025.
But not every sector saw gains. Citrus production declined, sugarcane was not harvested during the period, and livestock production, including cattle and pigs, fell slightly.
