Belize Set to Redraw 31 Seats by Year’s End
Your voting map could look different by year’s end. With a fresh mandate from the Prime Minister, the Elections and Boundaries Commission is redrawing all thirty-one constituencies to reflect where Belizeans live now, using data, new maps, and community input to keep representation fair and functional. At the same time, the department is road‑testing every election system ahead of the March 2027 municipal polls to ensure a smooth, transparent, and accessible experience for voters. Minister of Governance Kareem Musa calls the redivision a top priority and says the work is on track for completion this year.

“The ongoing redivision of electoral boundaries remains one of the most important undertakings at this time. This exercise reviews and updates the constituency boundaries to reflect changes in population and settlement patterns across the country. It involves data analysis, mapping, and consultation to ensure that electoral divisions are properly structured and administratively sound. This work continues with careful attention, as it directly shapes how representation is organized across Belize. In preparation for the 2027 March Municipal Elections, the department continues to coordinate and deliver the systems required for a smooth and credible process. Each phase of election readiness receives focused attention to ensure that Belizeans participate in an environment that is orderly, transparent and accessible. Mr. Speaker, this renewed mandate has now been issued by the Prime Minister and the Elections and Boundaries Commission is committed to completing this exercise of the thirty-one divisions by the end of this year.”
