PS5 Consoles To Be Used As Reward System in Child Care Facilities
The Ministry of Human Development, Family Support and Gender Affairs has provided more than $15,000 worth of gaming equipment to three government‑run childcare facilities.
The donation, made in collaboration with Top Gadgets, will support a new Rewards Gaming Programme for children and adolescents living at Coral Grove Residential Care Facility, Mile 14 Residential Care Facility, and the Dorothy Menzies Child Care Centre.
The programme is designed to encourage positive behaviour, participation in daily responsibilities, and academic engagement. Officials say the gaming systems will be used as part of a structured rewards system, rather than for free play.
The donation includes four PlayStation 5 consoles, four 50-inch televisions, multiple games, 18 controllers, and nine charging stations.
The Department of Human Services said supervised gaming can also help with stress relief, social interaction, and cognitive development when properly managed.
“This initiative recognises the importance of providing modern recreational outlets that motivate and uplift our young residents while reinforcing positive behaviour and personal growth,” a representative from the department said.
