Queen Conch Season Ends Next Week

The Queen Conch fishery will officially close next Monday, on April 6, 2026. The closure follows the full utilisation of the Queen Conch Production Quota for the 2025–2026 fishing season.

According to the Fisheries Department, “all conch fishing activities shall cease as of this date until the opening of the next fishing season on October 1, 2026.”

Fishers, restaurants, and the public are urged to use, consume, or properly dispose of all Queen Conch meat in their possession before the closure.

“Any person or establishment found in possession of Queen Conch after April 6, 2026, will be charged and prosecuted in a court of law in accordance with the Fisheries Regulations,” the Department warned.

The closure is important to maintain sustainable populations of Queen Conch. Any illegal conch fishing or possession must be reported to the Fisheries Department at 224-4552.
