Big Plans for the Police Force Emerge from Budget Debate

The curtains have closed on the 2026 budget debate after three packed days of presentations from all thirty‑one area representatives. Beyond the sharp back‑and‑forth in the House, one announcement stood out, Belmopan Area Representative and Home Affairs Minister Oscar Mira revealing major investments coming soon for the Belize Police Department. We caught up with Commissioner of Police Dr. Richard Rosado to hear his reaction.

“I want to thank the Government of Belize for making significant investments the police department, in modernization, in embracing advanced technology. And so, I want to commend them for the effort that they are doing across the country for the police department.”
