Belizean athlete Brooklyn Lyttle has leapt Belize into the spotlight. She won Belize a gold medal in the Girls’ U20 Long Jump at the 2026 CARIFTA Games.

Lyttle delivered a winning leap of 6.16 metres at the 53rd edition of the games, currently underway at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium. Rivka Goede of Curaçao placed second with 5.80 metres, while Seannah Parsons of Trinidad and Tobago took bronze with 5.76 metres.

The Belize Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association praised the performance in a social media post on Sunday, stating, “Congratulations to Brooklyn Lyttle on winning GOLD in the Long Jump at CARIFTA 2026! An incredible achievement and a proud moment for Belize, your hard work, talent, and determination truly paid off! Way to represent, champion!”

The CARIFTA Games are now in their final day, running from April 4 to 6, with more than 20 Caribbean nations competing across track and field events.

Lyttle’s victory adds to Belize’s presence at one of the region’s premier junior athletics competitions.
