Two Young Men from Corozal Charged in Killing of Arnaldo Vellos

After months of silence and searching, police say the walls are finally closing in on those responsible for the killing of Arnaldo Vellos. Investigators have now charged two young men in connection with the high-profile murder that stunned Corozal last year. Twenty-year-old Brandon Sanker and twenty-three-year-old Kevon Armstrong were jointly charged on Tuesday with Vellos’ murder, and Sanker is also facing an additional count of attempted murder.

Vellos was shot and killed in broad daylight outside his home in the Finca Solana area on October thirty-first, 2025, a brazen attack that rattled the community and drew national attention, especially given how well known he was in the area. For months, residents waited for answers. Now, while police are keeping details of their evidence close to the chest, these arrests signal a major step forward in a case that many feared was growing cold. And if the name Brandon Sanker sounds familiar, that’s because it should. Just a day earlier, he was already making headlines, after police arrested and charged him in Corozal, along with two minors, for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

“As a consequence of police investigation into the murder of Arnaldo Vellos which commenced on October 31^st, 2025, police have formally arrested and jointly charged twenty-year-old Brandon Sanker and twenty-three-year-old Kevon Armstrong, both of Corozal District, for the crime of murder. Sanker was additionally charged for the crime of attempted murder in relation to the shooting of Jonathan Vellos. As you guys would note, Mr. Sanker was recently charged for possession of a firearm. He was jointly charged along with the two minors. Indeed, from the incident occurred in October, Mr. Armstrong and Mr. Sanker were being sought. We had intelligence as to their whereabouts and when that operation was conducted to apprehend these wanted persons, that resulted in the discovery of the weapon and now the eventual charge of these individuals.”
