Belize City Teen Still Missing Four Days Later
A Belize City family is still searching for answers as seventeen-year-old Alwin Marin Junior remains missing.
Marin was last seen last Thursday when he left home to go fishing with Jaheil Westby. By early Friday morning, Westby’s body was discovered in a bushy area behind the Port of Belize Limited in Port Loyola, showing apparent gunshot injuries.
Marin has not been located since.
Now, Marin’s mother, Patricia Cardinez, believes a dispute may have triggered the violence.
She told News Five, “My son has no problem with nobody. But people have problems with my son. And I believe somebody who is in this has to be somebody close to my son, whom my son trusts.”
Cardinez also pointed to a possible argument over a horse shortly before the incident. “Whosoever he had a talking about this horse, that is the person they have to search for,” she said.
She added, “As a mother right now, we di search to find him… I need somebody more stronger who could come in and find him. so we could put him down and mek he rest. Because if he no rest, I won’t rest neither.”
A relative also pleaded online for help, describing Marin as “a sweetest hardworking young man,” adding, “We the beg uno… he’s 17 brown skin uno plz help us.”
Police continue investigations as one family mourns a death and another clings to hope.
