NTUCB Slams Prescription Requirement for Contraceptives

The National Trade Union Congress of Belize is also strongly rejecting any move that would require women to get a doctor’s prescription just to access birth control. The NTUCB calls the idea outdated and dangerous, warning it would roll back women’s rights by decades and create new barriers to basic healthcare. They argue Belize’s already thinly stretched health system can’t handle the added strain, and that working women would pay the price in time, money, and dignity. After a month focused on women’s rights and progress, the union says this proposal sends the country in the wrong direction, and they’re urging policymakers to scrap it.
