Attempted Murder Charge for Akeem Ferguson After Brutal Ladyville Attack
A Ladyville man is now behind bars, accused of trying to kill another villager in a brutal weekend attack. Thirty‑year‑old Akeem Ferguson appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court after being charged in connection with the stabbing and shooting of Lionel Nigel Logan. Ferguson was brought under police escort just after nine and formally arraigned around ten o’clock on three serious charges, including attempted murder. Police say the violent incident unfolded Saturday night on Henry Street in Ladyville, near Perez Road. Investigators report that Logan was first stabbed in the lower back and then shot. He was rushed to KHMH, where he remains in critical condition. According to police, Logan identified Ferguson by name at the scene and later in a recorded statement. Officers launched an immediate search, issued a wanted poster, and detained Ferguson later that same night. During questioning, police say Ferguson denied shooting Logan. Ferguson appeared in court unrepresented. Because of the severity of the charges, the Senior Magistrate denied bail and remanded him to the Belize Central Prison until June fifteenth. Investigators continue their work, piecing together what led to the violent confrontation and what comes next as Logan continues to fight for his life.
