Breakthrough Arrest in Jamir Cambranes’ Murder

Police say they’re starting to connect the dots in a deadly shooting that rocked Belize City last week. A few days after nineteen year old Jamir Cambranes was gunned down, investigators have made a key arrest, charging a teenage suspect as they push forward with the murder probe. But police say the work is far from over, three more persons of interest are still being sought, and the motive remains unclear. Authorities credit surveillance footage and forensic work for the breakthrough so far. Assistant Superintendent of Police Stacy Smith has the latest on where the investigation now stands.

“As a consequence of the ongoing investigation into the murder of nineteen-year-old Jamar Cambranes which occurred on the twenty-sixth police have formally arrested and charged nineteen-year-old Kenrick Robinson from Belize City for the crime of murder. Police are seeking three more male persons in connection of this investigation. No clear motive has been established, however I can say that this arrest and other impending arrests have been substantiated by footage that have been obtained by the Crime Fusion Center and as I indicated on the last occasion the processing of the scene and vehicle also aided in the investigation.”

Police say the investigation remains active, with surveillance footage and forensic processing playing a critical role.
