Belize Growth Forecast Rises to 2.5% in 2026

Belize is projected to grow by 2.5% in 2026, up from 1.6% in 2025, according to updated figures released by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). The improvement puts Belize among the minority of countries in the region expected to accelerate this year, as 24 of the region’s 33 economies are forecast to slow down.

The broader regional average sits at just 2.2% for 2026, weighed down by sluggish private consumption, rising inflation and a more difficult global environment marked by geopolitical tensions, higher oil prices and weaker international trade. Employment growth across the region is also expected to ease, dropping from 1.5% in 2025 to around 1.1% in 2026.

Against that backdrop, Belize’s uptick stands out. ECLAC warns, however, that risks remain across the region, including volatile financial conditions, rising energy and food prices, and structural vulnerabilities that could limit economic performance in the months ahead.
