Caught on Camera: Murder Trial Ends in Instant Guilty Plea

A High Court murder trial took a sharp turn this week after prosecutors played surveillance footage of the November 2023 killing. James Lyson Cacho, twenty-five, immediately changed his plea from not guilty to guilty once the video was shown. Justice Candace Nanton accepted the guilty plea and set sentencing for Monday, June fifteenth, 2026. Cacho admitted to murdering twenty-three-year-old Jordan Waight in broad daylight on Barbara Harris Street. Prosecutors had just called two key witnesses, the Scenes of Crime technician and a police IT specialist, to present the video evidence. With the guilty plea entered, the Crown did not need to call its remaining witnesses. Cacho is represented by attorney Ian Gray.
