Belize, Louisiana Guard Mark 30 Years of Partnership
The partnership between the Belize Defence Force, Belize Coast Guard and the Louisiana National Guard has reached a major milestone. Officials from Belize traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana, last month to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the longstanding security partnership between the two countries.
The anniversary brought together senior military and government leaders from both Belize and the United States. The partnership, which began in 1996 under the State Partnership Program, has focused on joint training, military cooperation and improving readiness between the forces.
During the visit, delegates participated in official meetings, professional exchanges and tours of operational sites in New Orleans, including the National WWII Museum. The main highlight was the anniversary ceremony at Jackson Barracks, where leaders reflected on three decades of cooperation and shared security goals.
Officials say the partnership has expanded over the years beyond military training to include homeland security, humanitarian assistance and disaster response efforts. Both Belizean and U.S. officials described the relationship as an important part of strengthening regional stability and security cooperation between the two nations.
