Reporter Aaron Humes Dies After Heart Attack at Home

Aaron Humes, a recognizable voice in Belizean news, has passed away at the age of 39 after reportedly suffering a heart attack at his home this afternoon.

Information is that sometime after two o’clock, Humes’ mother became concerned after knocking on his door and receiving no response. After some time, Humes reportedly managed to open the door, where his mother discovered he was in the middle of a medical emergency believed to be a heart attack.

Humes was a well-known figure in Belizean journalism, building a career that spanned print, television, and online news. He first entered the profession working with the Amandala newspaper before contributing as a freelance journalist for several local media outlets.

In 2017, Humes joined News Five, where he worked for several years before later moving on to Breaking Belize News.

His sudden passing marks the loss of a seasoned reporter who worked in the field for nearly two decades.
