BDF Receives Major Medical Equipment Donation

The Belize Defence Force (BDF) has received a major donation of medical equipment aimed at improving its ability to respond to emergencies and treat injuries within its ranks and surrounding communities.

The donation was made by Isaac Fehr of Turning Life and includes an ambulance, an X-ray machine, and a defibrillator. Officials say the equipment represents a significant upgrade to the force’s medical capacity.

Fehr, who spent more than seven years working in medicine in Mexico before returning to Belize, said the decision to donate came from a desire to help others. “We are part of Belize. It’s my country,” he said. “It is to support my people and my country.”

BDF Brigadier General Anthony Velasquez confirmed that the force already has trained X-ray technicians and medical doctors capable of operating the equipment. He added that the BDF is also working with the Ministry of Health to make some of its medical personnel available to hospitals across the country.

“We already identified a building, and we just need to refurbish it to medical standards,” Velasquez explained. “Mr Fehr’s donation has really put us ahead of the game, and we truly appreciate it. We’ll continue to collaborate with him in the future.”
