One Dollar Turns to Five Thousand with Scratch and Win Ticket
A routine work break turned into a lucky payday for one man in Belmopan. With just a one-dollar Scratch-and-Win ticket purchased at Triple A Supermarket, he walked away with five thousand dollars. The lucky winner told News Five that the surprise win has brightened his summer, and today he shared the story behind his unexpected payday.

“It was around three p.m. yesterday. Our guys were on a work break. So I sent one of my workers to buy purchase the ticket. And, when he was coming back, he reached at the shop, he decided scratch it. He said, “Mein, mek I scratch it out”, and i said ‘go ahead.’ and that’s when he noticed and said “mein, you won five thousand dollars.” I was like, “You kidding?” He say, “Yes.” So I look at the ticket and I said, “No, man, it can’t be.” So we run to the shop and see, and the person, the owner of the business said, “Yes, you won five thousand dollars.”

And what was your reaction when you realized, “Oh, I’m gonna get five thousand dollars?”

“Well, I looked at it. I said, “What, one dollar you make five grand? I said, it was like, Whoa, it’s good.”

“Let’s say about over a year, maybe. But, let’s say I would buy one every two weeks maybe.”
While he hasn’t decided what to use his winning for just yet, he’s happy to walk away with a little extra change in his pocket.
