Another Police Officer Accused of Rape

A 44-year-old police officer has been arrested and charged with four counts of Unlawful Sexual Intercourse following allegations made by a 15-year-old girl from the Cayo District.

According to police, the investigation began on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, when the minor, accompanied by a social worker, reported that the officer had engaged in sexual relations with her against her will on four separate occasions earlier this year.

On Friday, October 3, authorities formally arrested and charged Police Officer Elroy Gordon Sargent in connection with the allegations.

Police say the matter remains under investigation.
