Are You Ready for Saturday’s Carnival Road March?

This week’s celebrations build up to Saturday’s 2025 Carnival Road March, one of the most looked-forward-to events of Belize’s ‘September vibes’ that attracts both Belizeans and visitors.

With the countdown on, preparations are already underway for a weekend of colour, music and, of course, high energy. Last year, organisers introduced a new route that starts at Memorial Park and ends at Marion Jones Sporting Complex.

The new route runs entirely along Belize City’s coast. It initially received mixed reactions, but after a debut, many welcomed the cooler atmosphere and wider space.

Veteran soca artist Ernestine Carballo, who has been part of carnival for two decades, told News 5, “Well, you know, having to adjust to something new, you’ll always feel a little strange. But I honestly like it; it’s cooler, it’s wider, and you have more space to dance and move, and that’s what I like about it.”

This “one straight, smooth lap” gives both revellers and spectators a more “breezy” experience.

Carballo added, “Yes, I know we done used to the old-fashioned, but new is good too.”
