There was colour, creativity and plenty of excitement in Belize City this morning as preschoolers took to the streets dressed as doctors, police officers, chefs and even superheroes to officially launch Child Stimulation Month 2026.

The annual observance is being celebrated under the theme “Early Childhood Education: Start Strong.” Teachers, parents and students joined the lively parade, which showcased the imagination of the city’s youngest learners.

“We find it important because we want to highlight and reinforce the importance of early childhood education for students and to showcase what the child curriculum is all about based on the play-based method and all the different activities that will be held this month,” Bradley-Clare explained.

She noted that classroom discussions throughout the month will introduce children to different careers and community helpers, while parents played a key role in selecting today’s costumes.

Parent Lorna Garnett said she was thrilled to take part in the celebration.

“I am excited, mostly because I am a girl mom for the first time, I have two boys,” Garnett shared. “It’s exciting to get them interested and to know more about the different workers in the field so that they learn about them as they grow older.”

The month is being celebrated across the country.
