Arrest Made in Bella Vista Murder Case

We begin tonight in southern Belize where police have charged a man in connection with last year’s deadly home invasion in Bella Vista Village. That tragic incident left twenty-four-year-old Narjin Ceron dead and critically injured his partner, Nickey Logan, who courageously shielded their toddler during the attack. Around 3 a.m., armed assailants burst into Ceron and Logan’s home and unleashed a barrage of gunfire. Ceron was killed instantly. Logan was struck six times while protecting her young child, who was thankfully unharmed. Neighbors painted a picture of Ceron as a hardworking young man with a temper, that may have led to conflicts with others in the village. Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero confirmed rivalries within the community could have fueled the attack. Earlier today, police announced the arrest of twenty-one-year-old Jerdell Benjamin King, a laborer from Independence Village. He now faces charges of murder for Ceron’s death and attempted murder in connection with Logan’s injuries. The case is now moving forward in the criminal courts. Authorities say further investigation is ongoing, including looking into potential motives, whether rooted in personal disputes or drug-related activity remains part of the probe. Bella Vista has seen a worrying rise in violence recently, with this tragic shooting among a spate of serious crimes shaking the tight-knit community. Documenting this arrest not only brings justice closer for Ceron’s family, but also highlights Belize’s broader battle against violent crime and the urgent need for community safety.
