Belize and Trinidad Kick Off Trade Mission

Belize and Trinidad and Tobago have launched a three-day trade mission with the goal of strengthening economic ties and unlocking new opportunities for regional commerce.

The mission began this morning with the signing of a cooperative agreement between the two nations’ Chambers of Commerce, focused on deepening collaboration, easing trade barriers, and expanding market access within the Caribbean.

“Today was an open ceremony where Belize delegates had the opportunity to meet with the ministry and the official parts of Belize’s administration that deal with trade and investment,” said Somju Chase-Pierre, President of the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

She noted that the next step in the mission involves direct business-to-business meetings, facilitated by the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

“What we are looking for from this mission is to solidify the CARICOM and single market economy,” Chase-Pierre added, “where we could forge alliances and promote regional and economic trade between our islands and within CARICOM.”

The mission continues through Thursday with meetings, networking, and trade opportunities on the agenda.
