“Belize” Appears Multiple Times in Epstein Files
A search for the word “Belize” in the recently released Full Epstein Library on the U.S. Department of Justice website returns 156 results, a number that at first glance suggests extensive connections.
On closer inspection, however, most of the files do not involve Jeffrey Epstein directly referencing Belize. Many are duplicated documents, general market research, or unrelated correspondence where the country is mentioned in passing. Once those are filtered out, the number of substantive references drops significantly.
Still, among the remaining records are a handful of notable mentions that link Belize to Epstein’s wider network of political and financial interests.
A notable reference appears in 2017, when an individual identified as “Alford” emailed Epstein about Belize’s emerging real estate market. In that exchange, Belize was described as a “great tax shelter”. Epstein responded with apparent interest, writing, “Thx, I will; I’ll be back around the 20th.”
Beyond these exchanges, most mentions of Belize in the archive involve Epstein’s business partners and his final girlfriend, who emailed about vacation trips to the country. The tone of those messages was notably positive.
While the initial search produces 156 results, the actual number of unique and substantive references is far lower due to duplicated files and overlapping records.
The newly released documents have expanded the list of wealthy and influential figures with links to the late financier. The release, made on January thirtieth, includes millions of pages, images, and videos and names prominent individuals such as Richard Branson, Bill Gates, and Elon Musk. Authorities stress that being mentioned in the files does not imply wrongdoing, and many named individuals have denied any involvement. The disclosure follows a legal deadline under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, though some lawmakers argue the Trump administration has not fully released all required documents.
