Belize Celebrates the Musical Legacy of Supa G

Tonight, Belize City will celebrate one of the artists who helped shape the sound of Belizean music. The Living Legends Concert Series returns to Lord Rhaburn Plaza with a free tribute to Supa G, honoring his decades of music, influence and entertainment. The event will blend live performances with a documentary-style look at his journey and lasting impact. Several well-known Belizean artists who have worked with or drawn inspiration from Supa G will take the stage, and the living legend himself is expected to perform.

“How old were you when you started music?”

 

Supa G

“At the age pf probably twelve so its been many years, I started off young.”

“Since the inception, did you ever envision that this was the route your career would have taken?”

 

Supa G

“No, not at all. Because in the beginning I always wanted to be a radio announcer but when I started school, I saw Andy Palacio and I said I want to be just like him when I grow old. But I didn’t think about it to this level. Something part-time, on the side but not as a profession.”

The tribute comes as Supa G celebrates his fiftieth birthday year and continues a nationwide tour.
