Belize City Council Names New City Administrator

The Belize City Council has confirmed the appointment of Ambassador Dr Candice Pitts as the new City Administrator. She takes up the role on November first, 2025.

The Council said her selection followed the recommendation of an interview committee and pointed to her “proven record of leadership and public service.”

Pitts previously served as a Belize City Councillor, where she worked on community-based initiatives. She later represented Belize as ambassador to Taiwan and as non-resident ambassador to Japan. The Council noted she advanced “key diplomatic and economic partnerships that continue to benefit Belize.”

She holds a Ph.D. in English from Howard University and has studied diplomacy and international relations.

Pitts has also taught at the University of Belize and at international universities.

“The Council warmly welcomes Dr Pitts and anticipates working with her to advance our shared vision of a resilient and thriving Belize City,” it said.
