Belize City Fire Destroys Home and Vehicles

Fire officials are investigating a fire that left a family in Belize City homeless early this morning.

The blaze also destroyed two vehicles on Racecourse Street.

The fire broke out at approximately 12:45 a.m., destroying the two-story wooden structure.

64-year-old Harrieth Smith, who lived on the upper flat, says she was asleep when she was awakened by what sounded like an explosion.

That’s when she realized the house was on fire. Smith escaped unharmed.

Two vehicles including a white Toyota Camry were destroyed.

Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported.
