Belize City Gears Up for Two-Night Holy Week Revival Concert
Belize City is preparing for a spiritual and musical celebration as the Belize City Council hosts its annual Holy Week Revival Concert. Returning after its debut in 2023, the two-night event promises an uplifting experience featuring both local and international gospel artists.
Deputy Mayor Eluide Miller said the event goes beyond music, serving as a moment for residents to come together in faith and fellowship.
“We have our two-day Holy Week revival coming up tonight and tomorrow night, so we’re extremely excited about this undertaking,” said Deputy Mayor Miller. “This is really the brainchild of Mayor Wagner. He felt at the time that the city needed some sort of revival, renewal, a new sense of hope. We have quite a number of bands slated to perform, including internationally renowned Christafari and the returning Sinach. People can expect a family-oriented, community-oriented event, and we’re hoping everyone will come out, enjoy, and feel a sense of togetherness.”
While the concert has historically drawn large crowds, it has not been without scrutiny, particularly regarding costs. Taking public feedback seriously, the council shifted its approach for 2026, engaging both private and public sector partners to reduce the financial burden.
Deputy Mayor Miller reported that more than one hundred thousand dollars in donations have already been raised, with the council covering the remaining $130,000 needed to stage the event, which is projected to cost $236,000 in total.
“That really speaks to the confidence of the business community in supporting this undertaking,” Miller added. “They appreciate the importance of the social fabric of our city and what this initiative contributes to that.”
