Belize City Man Edward “Scrubby” Saldano Shot Dead

Edward Saldano, also known as “Scrubby,” was shot and killed earlier today in Belize City. The incident occurred near the corner of Amara Avenue and Dean Street while Saldano was riding his bicycle. According to sources, a gunman opened fire, and Saldano received up to four gunshot wounds to the head.

Saldano had previously been before the courts. In January 2024, he and twenty-one-year-old Elan White were jointly charged with robbery after allegedly holding up sixty-four-year-old businessman Dennis Morey and stealing a Smith and Wesson revolver. Police reported that Morey was approached by two men on bicycles, one of whom allegedly placed a gun to his head while the other took the firearm. Both men pleaded not guilty when they appeared in the Magistrate’s Court.
