“Among these a hundred and thirty-four recruits are twenty outstanding women who, with their male counterparts, successfully completed a demanding journey that tested their discipline, resilience, courage, and commitment. To intake sixty-nine, let me say this. Over the past eighteen weeks of training, you have transformed from civilians into soldiers, entrusted with the responsibility of defending our nation and serving its people. The uniform you wear today is more than a symbol of achievement. It represents honor, sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to duty. As you begin your military careers, remember your  greatest strength will not only be your skills, but your character. Uphold the values of loyalty, integrity, discipline, selfless service, and professionalism in everything you do. The Belize Defense Force places great trust in each of you, and I am confident that you will serve with pride and distinction wherever duty calls. I also congratulate your families and loved ones. Your encouragement, patience, and sacrifice have played an important role in helping these young soldiers reach their milestone. This achievement belongs to you as well.”

For many parents and loved ones in attendance, the occasion was a proud and emotional moment as they watched their sons and daughters transition into soldiers entrusted with the responsibility of defending Belize.
